Planting and Care Tips

Plant

Place the American Holly Tree in well-draining, slightly acidic soil with the root ball level to the ground, spacing about 10–15 feet apart for natural growth or screening.

Feed

Apply a slow-release, acid-loving tree fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy leaves and berry production.

Water

Water deeply once or twice a week during the first growing season, then as needed during extended dry periods.

Prune

Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the tree and remove dead or crowded branches.

Exposure

Plant in full sun to partial shade, ensuring at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily for optimal growth and berry color.
