Planting and Care Tips
Plant
Plant in spring or fall in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Compact grower, so it works well at the front of borders, in edging, or in containers.
Feed
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots appear. A top-dressing of compost during the season helps maintain vigor.
Water
Keep soil evenly moist with about 1 inch of water per week. Mulch helps retain moisture and protect shallow roots. Avoid letting soil dry out completely.
Prune
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves as needed. Cut flower stalks back after bloom to keep a tidy look.Trim foliage to the ground after frost in late fall.
Exposure
Best in partial shade, though it tolerates more sun than many hostas. Morning sun can enhance leaf color, but protect from hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch.
