Planting and Care Tips

Plant

Provide a loose, well-drained soil. Best with some shade in hot southern regions.

Feed

Late winter or early springto remove dead foliage and encourage new growth, or perform a more drastic "haircut" every few years to rejuvenate older, overgrown clumps. You can also selectively remove old flower stalks to maintain a tidy appearance.Avoid pruning during hot, dry summer conditions or when the ground is very dry to prevent stress.

Water

Water deeply, regularly during the first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system. Once well established, reduce frequency; tolerates moderate drought.

Prune

Prune away or rake out dead foliage before new foliage emerges in early spring.

Exposure

Full sun, Partial sun
