The White Kousa Dogwood is a hardy ornamental tree that blooms a little later than the native flowering dogwood, producing star-shaped white blossoms in late spring to early summer. It has layered, upright branching, attractive green summer foliage, reddish-purple fall color, and small red berry-like fruits loved by birds. Typically grows 15–30 feet tall, making it a beautiful four-season landscape tree.

Planting and Care Tips
Plant
Select a site with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and the same depth. Place the tree so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill, water deeply, and apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch (keeping it a few inches away from the trunk).
Feed
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (like 10-10-10) in early spring before new growth. Fertilize lightly, as Kousa is less demanding than native dogwoods.
Water
Water regularly during the first 2 years to establish roots. Once established, Kousa is more drought-tolerant than Cornus florida, but still prefers consistent moisture. Deep watering once a week during dry periods is ideal.
Prune
Minimal pruning needed. Prune in late winter to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and to maintain a balanced shape.
