Planting and Care Tips
Plant
To plant a Forest Pansy Redbud, choose a site with fertile, well-drained soil and dig a hole about twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper. Position the tree so the root flare is at ground level, backfill with native soil and compost, and water thoroughly.
Feed
Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer, taking care not to overfeed since too much nitrogen can limit flowering.
Water
Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first few years, watering deeply once or twice a week; once established, it tolerates some drought but prefers even moisture.
Prune
Prune in late winter to early spring before new growth emerges, removing only dead, damaged, or crossing branches, as heavy pruning can stress the tree.
Exposure
Full sun; Partial Shade
